Arias M. Brownback Memorial Fund
Arias M. Brownback loved farming from an early age as he grew up in western Perry County on his family farm. He attended his first PASA conference when he was 18 and went home inspired by his fellow farmers’ dedication to sustainable practices. In his honor, PASA established the Arias M. Brownback Fund in 2001 to aid young and/or developing farmers through financial assistance to attend the conference.
Through the ongoing generosity of our members and conference-goers, the Arias M. Brownback Scholarship Fund helps bring young and/or developing farmers to Farming for the Future. You can MAKE A CONTRIBUTION TODAY to the Scholarship Fund to support this effort.
PASAbilities Award Series & Scholarship Fund
The Farming for the Future Conference is one of the few events anywhere held each year that is packed with sustainable leaders from throughout Pennsylvania and, indeed, all across the country. In 2011, in celebration of our 20th anniversary, we brought a new innovation to our conference that takes advantage of the seasoned “star power” we enjoy among our members and close friends. In the plenary session on Saturday morning, the recipients of our Sustainable Ag Leadership Award and the Sustainable Ag Business Leadership Award take to the stage and share their stories. The plenary wraps up with the Saturday morning keynoter.

PASA thanks our Permanent Business Partner and past recipient of the Sustainable Ag Business Leadership Award Kimberton Whole Foods for their sponsorship of the PASAbilities Award Series. Their dedication to sustainability and community involvement has had a tremendous impact on the foodshed.
Scholarship funds are also available through the PASAbilites Scholarship Fund, which seeks to provide support to established farmers interested in learning about and incorporating new sustainable practices into their operations. Applicants must explain or demonstrate a financial need for support of continuing education. Support funds are generated through the generous support of the PASA business community. Support has come from Tuscarora Organic Growers Cooperative, Four Seasons Produce, and MOM’S Organic Markets.
