Scholarship and WorkShare Applications are now closed for the 2017 Conference.

Scholarship & WorkShare Programs

The conference has played an important role in the lives and businesses of many farmers. PASA wants to ensure that cost does not prevent anyone from attending. We offer two ways to attend the conference at a reduced cost – through our Scholarship and WorkShare programs. Please read below for details about both of these opportunities.

Scholarship Funding

Scholarship funding comes in part from the Arias M. Brownback Scholarship Fund, which targets young and/or developing farmers, and the PASAbilities Fund, which focuses on established farmers interested in learning about and incorporating new sustainable practices into their operations. Scholarship funds cover up to two days of registration fees only and cannot include meals. Applicants must explain or demonstrate a financial need for support of continuing education and have received funding fewer than three times in the past.

WorkShare Program

Through the WorkShare program, PASA offers a reduction in conference registration fees in exchange for help with conference work. The WorkShare volunteers provide PASA staff with much-needed assistance as we prepare for our biggest event of the year. There are a variety of tasks to be completed beginning in November and continuing after the conference. WorkShare participants trade 8 hours of work for $100 toward registration costs and may also request scholarship support. People who are able to regularly travel to one of the PASA offices may trade 16 hours of work for $145 toward conference registration.

How to Apply

Please read the following important information before you begin the application:

  • This form is used to apply for either Scholarship funds, the Workshare program or both. Please read through each question carefully and provide all requested information. An incomplete form may disqualify your application.
  • If you are granted funding through either program, you will be given instructions on how to register for the conference. DO NOT REGISTER until you have received your approval letter with instructions for how to register.
  • These awards do not cover meals, lodging or travel.
  • Applications must be submitted before 5pm on January 4, 2017.
  • Applications are processed in the order they are received.
  • Applications are processed on a per person basis, not as a group. If you’re applying with other individuals, each person will need to submit their own application. Group members’ applications will not be taken into consideration when reviewing your application.
  • Both Workshare and scholarship recipients will be registered at the Early Pre-Registration Membership rates, regardless of dates and/or membership status.
  • If you are approved for funds you will receive an awards notification email and be asked to respond.
    • You will have one week to respond or your funding will be forfeited.
    • After you respond, PASA will provide instructions on registering yourself for the conference, with your funding applied.
    • After receiving registration instructions, you will have 7 days to register or your funding will be forfeited.
    • Your balance must be paid before January 24th to secure funding.
